Chongqing Establishes Family Education Guidance MechanismsByYao Yao and Lei Yang June 2, 2022
Chongqing Municipal People's Procuratorate, Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Chongqing Women's Federation and Chongqing Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation recently released guidelines for the establishment of five joint working mechanisms to promote family education guidance work when handling cases involving minors. The guidelines stipulate mechanisms are established to evaluate how families perform their guardianship duties, and to supervise and guide family education, and family education guidance centers will be established. If a procuratorial organ discovers, during an investigation, that a minor has committed a crime, or has been harmed during a crime, because his/her guardians failed to perform their duties of watching over their children, the organ is required to order the guardians to receive compulsory family education guidance. In 2021, procuratorates in Chongqing supported the withdrawal and/or change of guardianship of 112 minors. While dealing with cases involving minors, the procuratorates issued 148 orders to urge the minors' guardians to watch over and provide proper family education to their children.
